FAFSA 2026-27 Federal and State Deadlines

If you are preparing a 2026-27 FAFSA, the U.S. federal student aid application, state and college deadlines may come before the federal deadline of June 30, 2027. Applying is free. The date to plan around is the earliest deadline among the aid programs being sought.

Separate application dates from document dates

For Mississippi's MTAG and MESG programs, October 15, 2026 is a supporting-document deadline for applicants who applied on time. The state MAAPP application deadline was September 15, 2026. Filing the FAFSA alone does not complete MAAPP.

For federal aid, September 11, 2027 is the deadline for receiving corrections to an existing application. It does not extend the deadline for new applications. Keeping these dates separate helps you identify which step is still available.

Use the FAFSA deadline comparison

In the original article on Injoys, you will find a state deadline table, preparation checklist and online application steps. Its distinction between applications, processing and supporting documents makes the dates easier to interpret before planning a submission.

Match each financial figure to its date

If you have different savings now than in 2024, separate the two reference dates: use 2024 income information, but report assets as of the date the form is signed. For preparation, put 2024 tax information alongside current amounts for savings, investments and other assets covered by the questions.

Also prepare separate accounts for required contributors, meaning parents or a spouse who must provide information, consent and a signature. Their participation does not create an obligation to pay tuition.

Check eligibility and local requirements first

U.S. citizens and eligible noncitizens, including permanent residents, may qualify, subject to other federal requirements. Check eligible enrollment, education requirements and applicable academic progress standards. Income alone does not determine eligibility for all federal aid.

State and college aid may require separate applications. The state dates listed are current as of September 18, 2026; they do not confirm eligibility or available funding.

Today, you can check the deadlines for your state of residence and colleges, using the comparison and named official sources in the original article on Injoys.
